The Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families is a non-profit society. With over 150 employees, we provide a variety of social, health and educational programs together with a continuum of services to Lower Mainland communities.

Our Mission: to deliver a continuum of social, health, educational and residential services. These services are designed for individuals, youth and families, who are subject to personal and/or societal distress, marginalization and alienation.

Vision: Through these services the agency aims to enhance personal wellbeing, strengthen family functioning and increase personal responsibility, confidence and healthy decision-making. Emphasis is on a client-centered approach within a continuum of care model, which focuses on health, resiliency and resourcefulness of individuals. Services are provided in a safe and respectful environment where diversity and connection to community is valued.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director contributes to the execution of the agency’s strategy and day-to-day operations and programmes. They are primarily focused on managing and supervising the work and helping ensure everyone is fulfilling their job responsibilities and are behaving in a manner consistent with supporting the long-term vision for the Lower Mainland Purpose Society.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for planning, organisation, and direction of the agency’s operations and programmes.
  • Develops and implements consistent inventory and cost accounting policies, procedures, and operational reporting/metrics.
  • Oversees and reports on the agency’s results to the Board of Directors.
  • Prepares accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends.
  • Provides leadership to and manages the efforts of staff to ensure appropriate support of all departments.
  • Supervises the development of operations-based financial modeling.
  • Coordinates and leads annual budget reviews, monthly and quarterly reviews, and periodic forecast updates with operational and senior management for all locations.
  • Approves major systems implementations related to cost and inventory control.
  • Retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and volunteers by providing career coaching, growth, and personal development for workers.
  • Ensures that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives.
  • To be vigorous in maintaining a ‘client-centred’ culture throughout the agency that ensures that clients are always the focus of the work throughout the agency, are respected, heard, safe and supported.
  • A leader and collaborative team player, with a positive attitude and the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • An approachable leader able to juggle priorities while remaining focused and calm.
  • A self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who takes ownership and works well in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • An advocate for the agency’s culture both internally and externally, driving a brand that attracts new employees and retains value-aligned employees.
