About:

The Kettle Society supports people with mental illness to lead healthier lives by providing support services, advocacy, employment and mentoring and housing. We work to raise awareness of mental health issues, break down stigma and reduce barriers for people with mental illness. Our goal is to promote inclusion of people living with mental illness in all aspects of society.

Kettle on Burrard has 141 units, located on Burrard Street across from St. Paul’s Hospital. This is a 16-story affordable housing project that includes community and commercial space. Easily accessible by transit.

Job Summary:

Primarily performs housekeeping, security and grounds keeping duties as part of the Environmental Services team. Performs basic maintenance and repair work such as unplugging sinks and toilets.

Status: Permanent, Part Time

Hours & Days: 30 hours per week, Saturday to Tuesday: 11pm to 7am (Overnights)

Days Off: Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

Salary & Compensation: $19.39 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Building Services Worker Certificate
  • Two years recent related experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA Level 1)
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Mental Health First Aid

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Ability to work with people with mental illness
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving skills required

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
