Job Title: Health Care Assistant – Adult Day Program setting

Work Site: The West End Adult Day Care Centre Society – 2110 w 12th Ave., Vancouver, BC

Status: Temporary Full Time – 5 months, could lead to permanent

Start Date: As soon as possible until end of March 2022

Salary: $28.75 – $32.25 per hour

Hours: 9:00am – 4:00pm Tuesday - Friday (28 hours per week) or 9:30am - 3:00pm or 3:30pm

As a Health Care Assistant at the West End ADP/New Roots you will:

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document client care, and provide support to clients and their families.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of a team and under supervision. Support the Recreation and Rehab Assts. in caring for clients in a community day program setting.
  • Work under the direction of the Director in caring for our frail elders living in the community.
  • Provide educational information and educational health sessions to clients, their caregivers, staff and volunteers and support them to live a healthy lifestyle.
  • Provide clients with ADLs, toileting, medication assistance/reminders, nutritional intake assistance, blood pressure and weight monitoring as well as other related duties.
  • Assist with implementing various recreational activities as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Health Care Assistants.
  • First Aid/CPR


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Fully vaccinated from Covid-19
