Administrative and School Nutrition Assistant
Title : Administrative and School Nutrition Assistant
Reports to : Program Manager – Bethany Homes
Based at : Bethany homes, Wetaskiwin
Hours of work : 8am-4pm. As we provide programming and services in the after-school hours, all staff must be available to work evenings and Saturdays for special events as needed. During the summer months (July & August) the hours will change to support summer day camp programs.
Hope Mission’s Bethany Homes provides school meals (breakfast & lunch) to schools in Wetaskiwin and area as well as after school programs (Horses of Hope, Kids In Action, Summer Day Camps). The School Nutrition Assistant oversees the school meal ordering, preparation, volunteers, deliveries, and communication with schools. As well, this person provides administrative support to the Program Manager and supports with programs as needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
School Meal Preparation: Maintains a clean foodsafe space for meal preparation. Completes weekly inventory and supply orders.
Communication: Communicates with schools regarding school meal needs. Communicates with Program Manager.
Volunteer Support: Screens volunteer applicants and coordinate volunteer shifts to assist with school meal preparation.
Administration: Oversee program registration. Perform administrative tasks as needed (timesheets, petty cash, etc).
Food Hampers: Communicate with families about food needs and deliver frozen meals/food hampers.
Outreach Ministry: Support the ministry team as they run programs to children and families. Develop relationships with the children and families who come to Hope Mission programs. Be available to join in program on occasion when there are staff away.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Red Deer Program Manager.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Ministry Experience: Relevant experience involving administration & coordination of volunteers, leadership, children, youth, and outreach. Understanding of various challenges of those “at risk” and able to handle relevant reports.
Administrative Experience: Training or experience in managing volunteers. Experience with Office Programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Media).
Self-Starter, Team Player, Multi-tasking, Flexible: Able to manage competing priorities and multiple activities, events, and situations. Works well under pressure and requires minimal supervision.
Experience working in a kitchen and with food safe practices.
Education: Completion of high school. Degree in Ministry an asset. Food Safety Certificate.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
Able to provide a clean Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Intervention Record Check
A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures.
Attend staff meetings, Bible studies, prayer meetings, and staff functions.
