Family Program Facilitator - Competition # 2021-83

Condition: Full-time Permanent

OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Reunification Homes Supervisor, the Family Program Facilitator is responsible for facilitating parenting and parent-child programs within the Reunification Homes Program.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning, organizing, and/or facilitating family education and family/child groups and workshops that reflect the needs and interests of parents and caregivers
  • Providing support to children and families through regular home visits
  • Providing strategies that support healthy child development and role modeling for parents and caregivers related to appropriate play and engagement activities
  • Facilitate programs based on needs identified by case managers, including parenting, guidance theraplay, parent child programming, and child development; all from an attachment based and trauma informed perspective
  • Work collaboratively with transition mentor to ensure parents have support in learning transitional life skills such as budgeting, accessing housing, working EIA, cooking and nutrition
  • Supporting the parent/caregiver as the child’s first and most important teacher and focusing on their strengths and capabilities
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of community resources to provide referral information to parents and caregivers
  • Maintain clear and concise records and provide reporting as necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or diploma in Human Services, Early Childhood Education or combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of group curriculum development and group facilitation and adult education
  • Strong knowledge of early child development, parenting skills, and working with families
  • Training in parent education such as Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting, Wiggle, Giggle & Munch, Circle of Security, and Nobody’s Perfect
  • Experience in home visitation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Must provide clear Criminal Record check, Adult and Child Abuse checks, Prior Contact Check, and clear drivers abstract
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations Culture and traditional philosophies
