Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Community Services, the Cultural Supports Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for developing, planning, and coordinating cultural activities for agency participants and staff. Further to advancing the agency’s efforts to provide cultural support services, this position is responsible for supporting the outcomes of the Strategic Plan related to diversity, equity and inclusion and advancing program, policy and staff development opportunities.

This is a part time position working 20 hours/week typically between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday but hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position and agency. This may include working occasional evenings and weekends.


  • Lead the agency on building internal and external cultural connections/relationships to advance the goals of the program.
  • Lead on planning and coordinating cultural activities for agency participants and staff
  • Orientates, supports and mentors staff assuming the role of Knowledge Keepers who are cultural liaisons to their respective program areas. 
  • Facilitate quarterly meetings with the Knowledge Keepers, and to support them to integrate knowledge and cultural programming into their respective programs. 
  • Communicate within the agency all cultural activities and maintaining a current calendar of available activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community Elders and other community resources that help to build and fulfill cultural programing needs.


  • A Degree or Diploma in the field of human/health services, or community development
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in program planning and delivery, with an emphasis on cultural support services 
  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle 
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check dated within 90 days of start date
  • COVID-19 vaccinations are mandatory for all Terra staff volunteers and contractors.  Successful candidates will be required to agreed to comply with Terra mandatory vaccine policy and provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of their employment before commencement.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Demonstrated excellence in building authentic supportive relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office
  • Demonstrated to work independently
  • Grant writing experience an asset.
  • Experience with developing and monitoring program budgets
  • Posses an innovative spirit
  • Knowledge of and relationship with cultural teachers e.g., Elders and community knowledge keepers, as well as an understanding of the truth and reconciliation recommendations, the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma is required.
