Bilingual Occupational Therapist
With expertise in pediatrics
One (1) full-time temporary position of 12 months with possibility of extension
Location: Welland, with travel within the Niagara Region
Annual Salary Range: $ 62,292 $ to $ 74,148, excellent benefits


Under the authority of the Primary Care Services Director and as a member of the multidisciplinary team, the occupational therapist always intervenes according to the health determinants and the principles of health promotion. As a rehabilitation expert, s/he analyzes the effects of the environment and functional limitations that affect clients’ abilities to perform daily tasks and helps them develop or maintain functional independence. The occupational therapist organizes health promotion activities in collaboration with other sectors to promote a healthy lifestyle.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and assess the needs of adults and children
  • Develop treatment plans based on client needs, resources, and best practices
  • Prescribe specialized equipment based on assessment of the residential and/or school environment, suggest changes to facilitate client integration
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of treatment plans and modifying them accordingly
  • Organize individual and group health promotion presentations and activities
  • Maintain and update clinical and statistical records
  • Planning and facilitating fall prevention groups
  • Establish and maintain links with organizations and community partners in the areas served
  • Participate in various internal and external meetings and committees
  • Produce program evaluation reports, statistics and other administrative reports
  • Specific Skills and Requirements


Education, Experience and Specific Requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate university degree in occupational therapy or equivalent from a recognized institution, and competence in pediatric occupational therapy would be an asset
  •  Certificate of Qualification and membership in the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Two to five years’ experience in occupational therapy
  • Thorough knowledge and competence in current occupational therapy approaches
  • Ability to design, plan, implement, and evaluate programs
  •  Knowledge of community and francophone resources
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment and with a multicultural population
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent spoken and written skills in French and English
  •  Knowledge and ability to use basic computer software
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet client needs
  • Have access to a motor vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver's license
  • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (or a medical note for exemption) will be requested
