Location: Work location is your home office in the Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba and the BBVA office when required

Hours: The hours of work are primarily between 8:30AM-4:30PM but there may be occasional evening and weekend work

Black Business Ventures Association (BBVA) is a 100% black-led non-profit organization with a mandate to discover, educate and mentor black tech entrepreneurs to create social and economic prosperity. Our programs and services are designed and delivered through a relatable learning mechanism that is inclusive of cultural context to help entrepreneurs grow and scale their business. BBVA is launching its new Black Accelerator Program, a 3-month program designed to support black-led, early-stage, tech or technology-enabled businesses, using the LEANSTACK methodology. BBVA is on a mission to help establish 1000 successful, Black-led tech and tech-enabled businesses in Canada by 2030. The Program Coordinator is responsible for engagement activities from pre-program operations, through the BBVA programs, and the post-program duties.


The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the daily operations pertaining to all BBVA programs for startup teams. The individual is expected to manage various aspects of the program delivery from coordinating with startup coaches, to communication with each program cohort.


The main responsibilities are:
• Support with the overall planning and operations of BBVA programs
• Work alongside the BBVA team to forge partnerships with ecosystem collaborators including live workshop mentors and facilitators, investors, academic institutions, sponsors and other key players.
• Prepare communication and outreach to participants and community partners for activation and promotion.
• Identify opportunities for new streamlined processes for the BBVA program offerings and cohort participation.
• Analyze engagement metrics and make recommendations for improvement
• Participate in community-based events and recruitment workshops to drive application demand for BBVA programming.


The ideal candidate has:
• Experience in community relations, developing networks and relationships, and an overall curiosity and willingness to learn new things and delve into new practices
• Experience with coordinating programs
• Extensive experience in and connection into the world of tech entrepreneurship and startups
• Detail oriented and feel comfortable creating and leading processes to assist the program cohort participants
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for continued interactions with external stakeholders
• Demonstrates an openness to learn and an excitement to support the startup community
• Proven relevant experience working directly with tech startups in an operational or administrative capacity
• A give-first attitude toward their community and all the individuals they interact with and a passion for helping startups become successful businesses.
