ROLE: Training Facilitator

This role is a unique blend of both in-house job ready workshop facilitation and outreach with a focus on connecting with isolated newcomers and immigrants within the community they live.

  • You can facilitate employment readiness topics in an imaginative and inspiring way. You may have gained your ability to facilitate through education in related fields; through years of practical experience; or you are just a natural facilitator!
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and are able to work collaboratively with, and support all, colleagues and clients; striving to build long-lasting and positive relations with them.
  • You believe tools for successful client relationships include:
  • discovering their strengths and talents and engaging them in meaningful employment opportunities;
  • accepting them where they are at and treating them with kindness, respect, and dignity;
  • using motivational counselling to empower them to make their own decisions;
  • and listening to their success stories and reinforcing their skills using narrative analysis.
  • You understand career development processes, employment practices, and the local economy in Alberta, but you also understand the “bigger picture” of things that shape Canadian culture and systems such as:
    • the history and culture of the Indigenous peoples of Canada;
    • historical and current issues in Canadian politics and economics;
    • and Canada’s immigration system and settlement concerns of newcomers.

Facilitating job readiness workshops in an art and requires creative approaches to learning. Many of our clients find the idea of resume, job search, interview skill, etc. workshops redundant. Your role is to present up-to-date and relevant information in a creative, innovative and energetic manner that is one step ahead of the typical job readiness workshops.

We are looking for an energetic, passionate, and imaginative facilitator who thinks outside of the typical approaches to facilating employment readiness topics and ignites a passion for job search within our newcomers and immigrants.
