Job Description: Your main responsibilities will be safely driving riders with various needs and backgrounds and providing excellent customer service. You will meet the regulatory requirements of a professional driver including completion of all paperwork such as pre-trip inspections and daily driver logs. You will be expected to interact with the dispatcher and other drivers in a congenial and professional manner; review, complete and submit documentation; and conduct safety checks. While driving you will work independently to a large degree, making decisions and problem-solving as needed, and with the support of the dispatcher as needed.

 

Hours: 10-20 hours per week. Monday to Friday during the day. Applicant must be available to work a flexible schedule. Drivers are paid for each hour of their shift which starts with pre-shift vehicle inspection, includes all drives and wait time for clients and post-shift vehicle inspection.

 

Requirements and Qualifications: You must be a friendly, community-minded, team player. You must have a safe driving record, clean criminal record including the vulnerable sector check and clean child abuse registry check. You must have an unrestricted Class 4 license with at least three years' driving experience. You will have demonstrated strong skills in communication, flexibility, customer service and time management.

 

 

Asset qualifications:

  • Experience transporting passengers
  • Experience operating accessible vehicles and 14-passenger minibus or equivalent
  • Volunteer or work experience with wheelchair users, intellectually challenged, and/or non-physically vulnerable.
  • Sensitivity training
  • Emergency intervention and conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation commercial vehicle regulations
