We are seeking an exceptional Senior Manager, Residential Services responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency’s residential programs and associated day programs. This position reports to the Director of Residential Services and will appeal to those with a passion for implementing strategies that improve the overall residential experience for ConneXions residents.

The Senior Manager, Residential Services, will work closely with the Director of Residential Services in leading the residential services team. This role assumes a high level of collaboration that promotes and ensures best-practice standards in the operation of the agency’s residences and day programs. Residential Program Managers will report to the Senior Manager, Residential Services. This role provides coverage of programs and residences when residential Program Managers are on vacation or any other type of leave.

Role Responsibilities
Operational and Fiscal Management

  • Works closely with the Director of Residential Services to monitor all aspects of service delivery across each program in compliance with Residential Care Regulations (VCH Licensing), Community Living British Columbia, BC Housing, CARF, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code of British Columbia and the Collective Agreement
  • Ensures that staffing level for each residence is adequate, liaises with human resources (recruitment) where staff resources are required
  • Coordinates with residential Program Managers to support their preparation for CLBC and Licensing monitoring visits, audits, and inspections with subsequent follow-up with recommendations. This includes support conformance to all related CARF standards.
  • Monitors the physical condition of each group home and provides support to the Program Managers to have repairs completed
  • Ensures that all program purchases meet internal financial controls including timelines Program Development and Leadership
  • Actively practices the values, beliefs, and future direction of ConneXions in an ethical, caring, and professional manner upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct
  • Oversees, reviews, and analyzes the process for individual service planning for all residents including health risk assessments, medical needs, nutrition planning, behavioural support, community inclusion and personal goal setting and person-centred plans
  • Facilitates and develops person-centred planning tools using a person-centred philosophy with direct input from residents and their networks
  • Monitors positive behavioural support best practices and implementation; conducts ongoing behavioural support review with emphasis on preventing occurrences
  • Provides supervision, coaching, training, and guidance to the residential services team to achieve program and organizational objectives, ongoing program measurement and business outcomes. This includes issues management, liaising with human resources and providing collective agreement interpretation support for all matters related to residential services
  • Provides support to the residential Program Managers for the referral process into or exits from residential and day program services.

Team Development

  • Manages the overall performance of the residential Program Managers including annual performance reviews and assessing ongoing learning and training needs
  • Provides coaching to residential Program Managers with day-to-day operational issues, collaborating on best practice approaches to problem-solving
  • Delivers MANDT or NCI training to ConneXions staff and is a member of the ConneXions S.U.P.P.O.R.T Team

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

As an ideal candidate, you are an experienced and enthusiastic program manager looking to expand your leadership skills. You are an effective communicator who can both inspire and clearly explain expectations to team members. You convey a professional, approachable, positive image and attitude in your work. You have demonstrated communication strengths (oral, written, electronic documentation, and interpersonal). You can develop and maintain respectful and professional relationships with key stakeholders including senior managers, program managers, supported individuals, families, professionals, and
multi-disciplinary teams.
Your background in standards, regulations, and legislation that governs community living in residential settings has been demonstrated in former roles. You understand the basic framework and systems of organizations such as: CCFL, VCH, CLBC, DDMHS, BC Housing, CARF, and the Public Trustee/Guardianship as they pertain to service delivery. You have experience working in a unionized environment, with an emphasis on performance, teamwork, training, and coaching. You can assess priorities to choose an appropriate course of action using your excellent critical thinking skills. You are reliable, well organized, and excellent with time management.
You have excellent use of technology and can navigate a variety of programs and platforms used by ConneXions including Microsoft Office and can recommend improvements for internal processes. Previous experience with the ShareVision platform is considered an asset.

Education and Professional Experience

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus on psychology, social services, health care, or another related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Two to four years in progressively more responsible management positions within the community social services sector (preferably community living, healthcare, licensed care services, or other social services)
  • Experience with person-centred planning tools such as PATH, MAPS and Circles (or equivalent) is considered an asset for this role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development


  • Class 4 BC DL restricted or a Class 5 with a commitment to obtain Class 4 within the first 6 months
  • Driver’s abstract demonstrating an acceptable driving record and use of a reliable vehicle
  • Business Insurance – ICBC
  • Emergency or Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED training
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Tuberculosis screening clearance and full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Mandt System Training
  • Medical Approval letter (from provided by ConneXions)
  • Ability to attend MANDT or NCI instructor training within the first 6 months of employment

Hours of Work: Hours of work per week: 37.5 with some weekend, evening, and on-call work
Schedule: flexible
