The Opportunity:

Are you our next Job Development Specialist? Reporting to the Manager of Program Delivery the Job Development Specialist is responsible for actively developing new employment and volunteer sites for adults with disabilities (individuals) seeking employment.

 

 

What you’ll be doing:

In collaboration with the Career Connections Manager of Program Delivery, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting with employers in the community (70% of the time) to learn about their company and the opportunities for job carving and customized employment, and assisting employers in identifying ROI in investing into hiring people with disabilities.
  • Contacting employers and employer associations to solicit employment, volunteer or work experience opportunities.
  • Utilizing employer research to gain new employment opportunities and propose Customized Employment with interested employers.
  • Completing cold calls, via phone or drop in, to employer and volunteer sites.
  • Assisting individuals to apply for positions according to the Individual’s Path to Employment and PCP goals.
  • Arranging and accompanying individuals to interviews for coaching and moral support.
  • Providing awareness and self-advocacy skill development for individuals in the workforce community.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 2 years of post-secondary education in related field – Social Services, Marketing, Psychology
  • Minimum 1 years of experience working in social services is preferred.
  • Inside/outside sales experience would be considered an asset.
  • Valid First Aid certificate.
  • Must have own vehicle, a valid class 5 driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • An interest to work with individuals with disabilities.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate through oral and written communication.
  • Deliver amazing customer service by going above and beyond for all Goodwill customers.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and engage fellow Team Members in contributing to Goodwill’s mission & core purpose.
  • Maintain an open and honest attitude while making moral decisions.
  • Recognize the great efforts of fellow Team Members through genuine recognition activities.
  • Contribute to a welcoming & accepting work environment by showing respect at all times.
  • Hold oneself and fellow Team Members accountable in their roles and for their contributions to Goodwill’s mission & core purpose. 
  • Continuously look to improve oneself and the organization in any aspect including but not limited to processes, communications, tasks and customer experience.
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks, ensuring safety of self as well as fellow Team Members.
