As AdaptAbilities’ new Community Specialist (CS) you will be an ally and ambassador and will work front-line. You are pivotal to the creation of a safe, caring and community-enriched life for the individuals/families who hire us. Thoughtful program planning and implementation supports participants to connect with their communities - establishing real relationships and creating meaningful days and lives. As a conscientious CS you will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with special needs and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Key Functions

  • Provide direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun and safe environment

  • Support participants in all aspects of personal hygiene and personal care as required
  • Maintain timely, accurate and professional documents in accordance with AdaptAbilities policies and procedures
  • Understand and comply with all emergency processes and risk management


  • University degree or diploma in Disability Services, Social Work or Human Services (or equivalent) is considered an asset
  • Less than 1 year of experience with individuals with special needs or life experience (supporting a family member)
  • Alignment with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values
  • Clean class 5 driver’s license and vehicle considered an asset
  • Ability to provide a clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check
  • Standard First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset

Working Conditions:

This is a permanent full-time, part-time or casual position that requires flexible availability.

Hourly Rate: $16.82 to $21.31


*To be eligible for benefits, you must be a full-time employee working a minimum 30 hours per week.
