The Learning Enrichment Foundation (LEF) is a not-for-profit (with a social enterprise mindset) that provides a multidisciplinary and holistic set of supports for members of our community, including those who are: in transition, new to Canada, out of the workforce, and a host of other individual circumstances.

 

We currently knit together Settlement Services, Child Care, Employment Supports, Skills Training, and Language Training. For over 40 years, it is through supporting and empowering individuals and families (indeed the community as a whole) that we have achieved our goals.

Who we are looking for:

 

We are searching for a Centre Supervisor who would be responsible for and focused on:

 

  • The overall operation, development, management, and evaluation of the childcare centre. 
  • Respect all legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing timely coaching with educators to build and support ongoing quality improvement 
  • Ensuring sound pedagogical curriculum, evident in all programming spaces, age-appropriate and reflective of the community we serve.
  • Participating as a member of the LEF community and seeking out collaborative activities in the broader community to support and enhance the needs of educators, families, and children.
  • Acting as a role model for educators, children, families, and the community by reflecting LEF values and initiatives. 

 

Hours per week may vary; however, a typical week is 35 (thirty-five) hours per week.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

 

Financial

Responsible for all centre finances, including Invoices, fee collection, supplies and equipment, enrolment summary of CSIS.

 

Policy and Regulation:

Responsible to direct all programming and activities to meet Ministry of Education and Childcare Early Years Act.  Perform all administrative and compliance related tasks to support centre operations, including Health and Safety regulations/compliance.  All aspects of staffing including managing staffing levels, hiring and onboarding.

 

Team and Community Engagement

Responsible for all aspects of engaging and managing a team with the support of a Senior Manager, other Supervisors and program partners.  Holding regular staff meetings to share information and gather feedback.  Performing ongoing feedback and coaching and annual performance reviews. Engages with all children and families of the centre to ensure ongoing supports and communications through various channels such as in person, via emails, StoryPark, etc.  Providing regular centre updates to Senior Team/Manager.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience working with children from infancy to 12 years, with a preference for candidates who have prior Supervisory experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Early Learning Framework (ELF), How Does Learning Happen and thorough knowledge of Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI)
  • Proven ability to implement an emergent curriculum
  • Experience working with children with varied abilities
  • Ability to interpret and implement LEF policies and procedures
  • Well-developed collaborative interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with children, parents, and staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening skills
  • Ability to use tact, discretion, and good judgment
  • Well-developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, flexibility and judgment when handling unpredictable situations
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work effectively
  • Ability and experience with guiding, mentoring and coaching others
  • Ability to relate to a variety of socio-economic and cultural groups
  • Works independently, can contribute and be an influential member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Working understanding and use of technology and software such as MS Teams, Outlook, Story Park etc.
  • Must have membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, along with up to date and current certifications and immunizations as required by the College Ministry of Education and Public Health; as well as a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
  • Must have proof of two COVID doses
  • A valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle is an asset
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
