The Position:
Title: Brief Intervention Caregiver Support (BICS) Clinician
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent


Catholic Family Service is seeking a passionate individual to support our Brief Intervention Caregiver Support (BICS) program by working with kinship and foster caregivers to build their capacity to support the children in their care. BICS Clinicians work through the lens of child development, attachment theory, trauma, grief and loss, and child/adolescent mental health. Qualified candidates will possess an understanding of how to work with families in a culturally responsive manner that respects and honors difference, as the program provides support to caregivers from a wide range of ethno-cultural communities. The BICS program is a partnership with Children’s Services, with a team comprised of multiple organizations. This position is full time and service delivery requires flexibility to conduct sessions in families’ homes, in office, and in virtual formats. Some evening work is required.


Qualifications Required:

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline and 2 years post-grad counselling experience;
  • Registration with a professional governing body;
  • Clinical experience working with complex family systems impacted by trauma;
  • Skills in assessment and report writing;
  • Strong computer competencies;
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with external partners and systems;
  • Ability to work independently as an ambassador of Catholic Family Service;
  • Takes a posture of cultural humility in working with diverse populations; experience with Indigenous and/or immigrant families is an asset;
  • Use of a vehicle and ability to drive throughout Calgary and surrounding areas;
  • Previous experience working with Children’s Services is an asset;
  • The Core Brain Story Certification through The Alberta Family Wellness Initiative as an asset;
