The Learning Enrichment Foundation (LEF) is a not-for-profit (with a social enterprise mindset) that provides a multidisciplinary and holistic set of supports for members of our community, including those who are: in transition, new to Canada, out of the workforce, and a host of other individual circumstances.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a client-oriented individual with solid analytical, project management, communication, organization, and teamwork skills to coordinate the activities IRSD project. The IRSD project is a two-year project that will research and test new tools and approaches to newcomer services to enhance remote service delivery and remove barriers to service access. The Research Specialist will support the strategic review of the program outputs, outcomes and support the evaluation of the impacts of the project. This position will be responsible for research and data collection activities; preparing statistical and analytical information; preparing reports and providing feedback. This position will strengthen efforts related to research, planning, focusing on program quality measurements and improvement and strategic planning.

 

Note: This is a fixed-term contract until March 2024. From February 2022 to June 2022 will be required to work 35hrs. From July 2022 to March 2024 will be required to work 17.5 hrs.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with the team to design and implement project research and evaluation frameworks
  • Adheres to research timelines and ensure they meet milestones and outcomes
  • Leads data collection and analysis processes in collaboration with the project team and other partners
  • Oversees and actively participates in the data collection activities
  • Assists in the development of communication tools and presentations to share findings with the project team, participants, partners and other stakeholders
  • Develops and creates program documents including research, progress and evaluation reports
  • Maintains ongoing communication with project partners and other stakeholders and secure required supports for research purposes
  • Represents the project team and shares project's work on different platforms, including sector-wide tables and conferences
  • Participates in the development, testing and evaluation of tools and techniques to enhance remote service delivery, client experience and engagement 
  • Ensures project's adhesion to the process evaluation framework
  • Ensures regular evaluation sharing with project staff to create a feedback loop and inform continuous quality improvement

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in a related field from an accredited College/University with a strong academic focus
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills, including knowledge of qualitative research methodologies and quantitative statistical techniques
  • Advanced English skills with proven academic and report writing ability
  • Excellent editing, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Must be detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to synthesize and analyse diverse information and data
  • Comfortable working on new, uncertain, and abstract projects where the requirements are sometimes unclear
  • Creative and critical thinker who can quickly research, understand, and communicate new concepts
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Capacity to identify and articulate potential problems and provide possible solutions in a concise and clear manner
  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects at once
  • Ability to take on new tasks with short notice, and be mindful of project deadlines
  • Project management experience an asset
  • Understanding current virtual engagement models, trends, challenges, and opportunities, an asset
  • Strong understanding of the local community (Weston/Mount Dennis) and of community development issues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, social media and other relevant applications.
  • Knowledge of statistical software, an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team in a pro-active manner
  • Enjoy working with a collaborative, fast-paced team
  • Multi-cultural sensitivity and able work in a multi-cultural/multi-racial environment
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
  • Must have both doses of the COVID Vaccine
  • Currently have or willing to obtain a vulnerable Police Sector Check
