The Position:

In support of the Vision, Mission and Values of LutherCare Communities, we are seeking a Dining Room Server to join our team.

As a successful applicant, you will be responsible for the duties required to distribute meals to residents and guests in a dining room setting.

Servers are responsible for the efficient serving of meals to residents in a professional manner. Effective communication with servers and residents is vital to the success of this role.


  • Take food orders from residents & guests
  • Deliver all aspects of meals to the tables in a professional manner
  • Clear tables as needed and reset
  • Assist with cleaning of the kitchen service area and assist with prep work for service
  • Assist with dishwashing as assigned
  • Assist with closing duties
  • Tracking of resident meals
  • Abide by dress code
  • Cooperate in meeting licensing standards
  • Demonstrate a high standard of personal hygiene
  • Abide by Policies and Procedures of LutherCare Communities
  • Complete other job-related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor


  • Age 15, with Young Worker Readiness Certificate (YWRC) and written approval from guardian to work on the dining room side
  • Serve it Right, WHMIS and Food Safe certificates are assets

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently
  • Ability to work independently or as a team
  • Ability to take direction from supervisor, and kitchen supervisor
  • Ability to remain calm during high stress times and adapt to change
  • Ability to organize time effectively
  • Ability to operate equipment (computer, dishwashing machine, coffee machine, juice machine)
  • Knowledge of fire procedures
  • Understand the proper techniques of serving
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation
  • Physically able to perform the work assigned
  • Ability to effectively communicate with seniors
  • Ability to work independent of supervision


  • Experience in food service industry is preferred
  • Experience working with seniors an asset
