United Way Greater Toronto is looking for an experienced IT Specialist to join our team on a one-year contract.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Information Technology Operations and Security, the IT Specialist will administer and support all components of UWGT infrastructure including network management, servers, data center operations, phone systems etc., and provide advanced support for client, server and network and helpdesk issues.
What you’ll do:
  • Provide advanced technical support; respond, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve reported problems with UWGT systems. Escalate to 3rd party maintenance vendors as required
  • Track all support items in the IT ticketing system ensuring the ticket is updated with current status on a timely basis. Provide clear and timely information on steps taken to resolve problems and services delivered. Communicate status of all support requests to users within specified service levels. Close out all trouble tickets assigned and follow up to ensure user satisfaction.
  • Install new servers, systems and/or components and related software and services. Maintain the Systems Inventory including asset tagging equipment; ensure compliance with licensing agreements and UWGT policies; ensure Maintenance Agreements are managed as required
  • Set up, respond to and resolve system alerts generated from monitoring systems
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, cleaning and diagnosing systems, ensuring the latest application, patches, antivirus, and driver updates are installed on all systems
  • Maintain, administer and support the virtualized server environment including administration of VMware licenses
  • Maintain, support and administer UWGT communications technology including VoIP phone system, voice mail, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Exchange online; provide support and setup configuration for UWGT mobile devices
  • Administer, monitor and support UWGT network infrastructure including switches, routers, LAN, WAN and wireless
  • Support, configure and monitor Storage infrastructure including SAN administration, fiber cabling, storage fabric infrastructure and data replication
  • Ensure data center facilities are fully operational including power, cooling systems, cabling, physical security, rack maintenance, etc.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize cloud systems including Office 365, Skype for business, SharePoint and Voice etc.
  • Install and administer Citrix Xenapp, Xendesktop and thin clients
  • Provide support and administration for web infrastructure including internet services, IIS administration, Application Firewall, SharePoint infrastructure, load balancers, secure FTP services
  • Ensure security of UWGT systems by managing various services including Active Directory, IPS/IDS, SSL certificates, anti-virus infrastructure, spam filtering, patch management, firewall management, web filtering, remote access management through virtual desktop and Two-factor authentication; ensure IT security policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure setup, maintenance, and administration of servers. Ensure that servers meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance and uptime standards
  • Support applications and processes that depend on the servers, including but not limited to backup, off-site tape rotation, disaster recovery preparedness, directory and time synchronization, network printing, remote server management, remote user access, and system security
  • Assist with testing new products, technology, and configurations and provide assistance with integrating them into the UWGT infrastructure
  • Participate in periodic disaster recovery testing, which may be either announced or unannounced and may require travel to a remote disaster recovery site
  • Perform regular maintenance and audits to server systems, including security and PCI audits, capacity management, and software patch level surveys
  • Maintain documentation of processes and procedures
What you’ll need to be successful:
  • 3-5 years experience in IT related field
  • Degree or diploma in an information technology related field
  • Required certifications:  Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Mobility; Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) - Office 365; MCSA Windows Server 2016
  • Preferred certifications:  MCSA SQL 2016 Database Administration, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), ITIL Foundations
  • Hands on experience in the following technologies
    • Microsoft technologies including: Server Operating Systems, Desktop Operating Systems, Office 365, SQL Server, Office SharePoint Server, Internet Information Services, Active Directory and Azure, DNS and DHCP
    • Citrix Xenapp, Xendesktop and virtual desktops
    • Data Center management
    • Cloud Services management
    • Server and Network Monitoring Solutions
    • Network equipment including Cisco Switches, Routers, Firewalls and IPS/IDS, and Citrix Application Firewall
    • Server Virtualization using VMWare
    • Storage Area Networks and data replication
    • EndPoint Anti-Virus solutions
    • Symantec Backup solution
    • LANDesk Management
    • Automated patch management
    • Vulnerability monitoring solutions
    • Mobile Device Management
    • VOIP phone systems
    • Hardware including Servers (IBM Flex System) Laptops, Desktops, Peripherals, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience managing data security and network security
  • Calm, professional demeanor with a focus on customer service
  • Ability to work on complex problems; diagnostic, problem solving, analytical, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines, work on multiple initiatives at a time, prioritize workload; ability to work well as part of a team and be service oriented
  • Verbal and written communication skills to explain technical information in simple terms and the ability to help users articulate their problems
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours
  • Experience using imaging software to create update and deploy desktop and laptop images is an asset
