The PuSh International Performing Arts Festival is one of Vancouver’s signature cultural events.
Taking place over three weeks each January, the PuSh Festival presents groundbreaking work
in the live performing arts: theatre, dance, music, and various forms of multimedia and hybrid
performance. The next edition of the PuSh Festival takes place January 17 to February 5, 2023,
at venues across Greater Vancouver.


The Push International Performing Arts Festival is seeking a keen and passionate individual to
join the Festival in the role of Communications Manager. PuSh values the sharing of insight and
responsibility in key areas that benefit from collective input and contribution, and this is a unique

Reporting to the Director of Operations, and working closely with the Collaborative Leadership
Team, the Communications Manager leads a team of contractors to ensure that the Festival’s
values and programming are communicated with quality, creativity, and care. The position is
responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of marketing strategies for PuSh,
including offline and online communications solutions with measurable results. This position
utilizes new media and online tools to raise the profile, increase ticket sales, and achieve
organizational goals while ensuring smooth operations, efficiency, and growth of the marketing
and communications efforts.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
● Plan an integrated marketing, sales, and communication strategy that includes audience
development and sales objectives, with the Collaborative Leadership Team.
● Liaise with artists, partners and other stakeholders to review and coordinate approval of
all Festival-related marketing materials and initiatives.
● Be accountable for the pacing of the marketing budget and recommend strategic
● Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the marketing plan, using both quantitative
and qualitative analysis where possible, and propose action plans for optimization.
● Oversee the tone and voice of all Festival marketing materials.
● Manage seasonal contractors and the Communications Coordinator in the production
and distribution of all communications collateral, including outreach, marketing and
promotional materials.
● Take initiative to contribute new ideas, while also supporting the pre-established PuSh
brand and aesthetic.
● Maintain office communications archive.
● Represent the Society at events and meetings, as necessary.
● Participate in the Festival and other activities.


Social Media and Website Management:
● Create the social media strategy with a focus on increasing growth and engagement on
social media platforms with focus on Facebook and Instagram.
● Coordinate Festival staff and contractors in the creation, collection, and curation of high
quality content, including graphic design.
● Plan website content and provide design recommendations.
● Work with the Communications Coordinator in the development and implementation of
the social content calendar; e-newsletter content; social media promotions; effective paid
social boosting plans; and website content.
● Leverage analytics to inform social media strategy.
● Produce website and e-newsletter content in down season.
● Monitor the latest trends, best practices and technologies in social media and the digital


● Lead the strategic use of database marketing to increase engagement and sales.
● Coordinate and execute promotions campaigns with community partners; determine
timelines/deadlines, craft copy, establish promotional graphic design needs, coordination
and execution of larger scale promotions (events, large contests, etc.).
● Build strong relationships with existing and potential promotional partners.
● Create and regularly update promotions database.
● Coordinate ad exchanges.
● Support overall marketing and sales goals through promotional activities.
● Coordinate/negotiate with printers to source print quotes and meet deadlines.
Other duties and responsibilities may be required.


● Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Arts Management or
related field or equivalent work experience.
● 2+ years of recent experience working in a marketing, communications role with proven
success executing successful social media, email, digital and promotions campaigns in
the live events market.
● Previous experience in a fast-paced professional marketing and communications
service, events or Festival environment.
● Experience leading/collaborating with others to accomplish tasks and projects
● Superior verbal and written communication skills.
● Strong attention to detail and high level of thoroughness.
● Ability to work collaboratively and form effective partnerships, both internally and
external to the organization.
● A positive attitude and unflappable ability to manage through competing priorities.
● Adaptive design eye and skill.
● Familiarity and comfort with software and online tools, including but not limited to
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite, YouTube, and Photoshop.
● Passion for the performing arts.


● An understanding of current web-design technologies and how to leverage them.
● Experience designing assets for a WordPress environment.
● Project management experience.

Salary range: $52,000-56,000
