The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure, we are looking for a reliable, skilled Facilities Maintenance Worker to help oversee and manage the day-to-day operations and perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our facility. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs, service work, and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional.

Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job, as the ideal candidate will have significant work experience and solid technical knowledge. You should have the manual dexterity and physical stamina necessary for this work.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

This position is responsible to assist and support the department with a variety of functions including :

• Handling basic repairs and maintenance for the safe and reliable operation of the shelter
• Pick up, receive, and restock all areas with the required supplies
• Day to day tasks which can include minor carpentry, plumbing, drywall, moving furniture, door hardware adjustments, cutting keys, etc.
• Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment
• Follow safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required
• Assist in monitoring inventory and order supplies as needed
• Maintain grounds, including garden and yard upkeep, trimming, edging, mowing lawn, collecting trash, snow removal, etc.
• Operating a variety of standard power tools and equipment (ride on lawn mower, various saws, grinders, drills, string trimmers, etc.)
• Adjust, clean, and perform minor mechanical work on grounds equipment
• Maintaining maintenance records, receipts and ensuring proper follow-up of all maintenance contracts as directed by Manager, Infrastructure
• Work will at times involve the cremation of animals in an onsite incinerator
• Collaborate with a team of workers and other professionals during renovations and facility expansions as required

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in building, maintenance, operations would be considered an asset
• Experience with power and hand tools is required
• Training in CPR/First Aid would also be considered an asset

Compensation/Hours

Compensation: EHS offers a competitive Not-For-Profit compensation, and a strong work-life balance.

Hours: 40 hours a week; some scheduled evenings and weekends may be required.
