Respite Caregivers

part time - temp / contract  •  $16-$18/hr

The Developmental Disabilities Association is seeking contracted Respite Caregivers to work with a child or adult with intellectual disabilities part-time (mostly on weekends or after school, for weekly 3-6 hour shifts).
Requirements are: First Aid CPR, a clear criminal record, 2 work references, some training or experience in a field related to developmental disabilities. Wages are $16 or $18/hour (depending on level of support needs).

 

Current respite needs include:

 

E: Active 10-year-old male with autism in Killarney area. Enjoys playing soccer and basketball, interested to learn to swim, likes playing on the playground and going to the library, movies, Science World etc. Needs a preferably male caregiver on Saturday 1-4PM, OR on Sunday 11AM-4PM for a community outing ($16/hr )

 

 

L:15-year-old male with autism near Sunset Community Centre. Friendly, active, cautious. Likes swimming, basketball, walking, playgrounds, visiting Aquarium, Science World etc. and interested in motor vehicles. Female respite caregiver needed Saturdays and/or Sundays for 3 hours (any time between 10AM and 8PM) for an active outing in the community. (16/hr)

 

F: Active 8-year-old male with mild developmental disabilities near Victoria/E Hastings. Enjoys swimming, skating, video games, dogs, cats and birds, going on walks, playgrounds and dog parks. Needs constant supervision as he may wander off when he gets bored. Ideally male caregiver needed on Saturdays or Sundays for 4-5 hours (any starting time) for a community outing ($16/hr)
