Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation and Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation
Southern Ontario
Waterloo Region

full time

Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation (CNDCF) works with donors and local charities to provide grants to worthy local causes and to support a wide range of initiatives which sustain and improve the quality of life in Cambridge and North Dumfries. Similarly, Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation (KWCF) collaborates with partners to develop innovative solutions to meet current and future needs of the community, focusing on Granting, Impact Investing and Convening to make measurable and sustainable impacts in the Waterloo Region. In late 2021, the Boards of Directors of both organizations started to discuss the possibility of becoming one community foundation that would serve the entire region. After considerable discussion and stakeholder consultations, it was decided in February 2022 to formalize the intent to unify. The Unification is now in implementation and is expected to be completed by Summer 2022. Both Foundations are coming from a position of strength, with a mutual desire to amplify impact and build on an already strong and collaborative partnership. The unified Foundation will be one of the top Community Foundations in Canada in assets under management.

The soon-to-be newly formed Community Foundation is seeking its first President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee the Unification and lead the organization boldly into the future. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a visionary leader who is comfortable with ambiguity. Able to articulate a compelling vision and create a multi-faceted plan, you will engage, align, and excite people to support and achieve it. You understand the intricacies of honouring distinct legacies, history, and cultures, and will integrate the unifying organizations effectively and efficiently, while setting an energizing and equity-based path for the years ahead. The CEO will lead the unified Foundation to “do more good.”

For this critical leadership role, the Foundation requires a skilled change management leader who will be responsive to the challenges and opportunities of a newly unified organization. With prior experience working in a complex multi-stakeholder environment, you create a shared vision amongst employees, Board members, and a variety of external stakeholders such as fundholders, donors, community groups, and various levels of government. An understanding of, and passion for, the unique and important role a community foundation plays, as well as a connection to the cities and townships of Waterloo Region, will be essential to success. With a personal commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), you value employees and community and act as a champion of DE&I internally and externally.

CNDCF-KWCF is an equal opportunity employer. In accordance with the Accessible Canada Act, 2019 and all applicable provincial accessibility standards, upon request, accommodation will be provided by both Odgers Berndtson and CNDCF-KWCF throughout the recruitment, selection and/or assessment process to applicants with disabilities.
