Rural Revitalization Coordinator

The Opportunity: The Township of Hornepayne and the Rural Development Network  are seeking a Rural Revitalization Coordinator to help us catalyze sustainable growth and development by promoting and marketing Hornepayne as a great place to live, visit and do business, under the direction of the Rural Development Network and working with the Hornepayne CAO and EDO. 

Location: The position is located in Hornepayne, ON and will be in person at the Township of Hornepayne office located at 68 Front Street, P.O. Box 370, Hornepayne, ON P0M 1Z0. Candidates must be willing to relocate or need not apply. 

Duration and Wage: This is a full time contract position for 2 years, beginning as soon as possible. The wage is between $51,000 - $59,000 per year, based on a 35 hour week. 

What will I be doing?

You will bring your energy, enthusiasm and fresh ideas to the Township of Hornepayne, to:

• Conduct community consultations

• Engage with local businesses
• Perform market gap analyses

• Assist with branding strategies

• Assist with developing and implementing business retention and expansion strategies

• Create campaigns to attract new workers and business investments

• Assist with planning
• Research granting opportunities and assist with developing funding applications
• Write reports and give presentations

 The work you do will be supported virtually by the RDN team and locally by the Hornepayne EDO and CAO.

Eligibility Requirements: 

The ideal candidate is a recent graduate from an accredited college or university with a post-secondary degree or diploma in one of the following areas: 

• Community Economic Development
• Marketing
• Planning
• Business Administration
• Commerce
• Public Administration
• Other related areas (make your case!)

What skills and experience are important to be successful in this position?

You are:

• A highly motivated, innovative thinker and self-starter
• A great communicator, with excellent spoken and written English skills
• Comfortable with public speaking
• Able to plan and execute small events
• Comfortable with a computer, and have excellent working knowledge of software programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
• Great organizational and time management skills
• Able to work both in a team and independently
• Familiar with and have an understanding of rural communities and community development
• Able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

The Rural Revitalization Coordinator position is aimed at an early career professional and could be the successful candidate’s first full-time, career-related employment. The project will last up to two years. Applicants must be living in or willing to relocate to the Township of Hornepayne.
