Job Title: Residential Care Worker      

Location: Capilano House

Job Status: Part Time - Permanent

Rate of Pay: $21.63 to $25.19/hr

Benefits: Yes

Driver’s Licence Required:  Class 5

Use of Own Vehicle Required? No

Hours of Work per Week: 36.5 hours/week

Monday 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Thursday 2:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Friday 2:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Saturday 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Sunday 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Goals and Responsibilities of the Position:

• Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Residential Care Worker provides a comfortable home environment in which individuals with intellectual disabilities have the opportunity to live active and fulfilling lives.
• Works as part of a team to ensure that individuals achieve personally meaningful goals for independence, community access, and skill development.
• Respects each individual’s right to privacy and confidentiality
• Supports individuals to become self-sufficient in all areas of daily living
• Maintains a safe and healthy environment for those you support, for your co-workers and for yourself
• General administration, report writing, record keeping, and accountability of funds

Requirements of the Position:

• Certificate in human services or related field (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
• Minimum of six months of relevant experience in a similar environment
• Experience with challenging behaviours, mental health concerns and delivery of personal care
• Knowledge of Diabetes, Dysphagia, Dementia, special diets, Tube feeding, mechanical lifts may be required
• Criminal record check, Valid First Aid and Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification, Medical Approval, TB Clearance, satisfactory Reference Checks, Reliable Vehicle and valid BC driver’s license (class 5)
