Join Youth Climate Lab (YCL) as a Program Coordinator! Work hand-in-hand with YCL’s diverse staff, partners, and youth across the globe to shake up the status quo of climate inaction. (Don’t let that imposter syndrome stop you!)

About the Role 

  • Location: Remote, Canada
  • Term: 8 weeks, 30 hours/week
  • Compensation: $18/hour

About YCL

YCL is a youth-for-youth lab founded in May 2017 to support and strengthen a generation of leaders in shaking up the status quo of climate inaction. It has since worked with 30+ partners to design, pilot, and scale innovative experiments projects that have reached thousands of young people combating climate change in more than 77 countries.


Design, pilot, and scale innovative experiments that tackle problems faced by young people around the globe in their fight against climate change.

What You Would Do

The Program Coordinators will work with our Programs Manager to support the coordination and delivery of YCL’s active programs, and the design of future programming. In this role, you will work with YCL staff and external partners to ensure that programs are delivered to maximize impact for all stakeholders. The ideal candidate is passionate about furthering youth-led climate action, and is excited to design and deliver programs to scale YCL’s impact.


Program Coordination

  • Support the team across various stages of a project lifecycle, from inception through to end delivery
  • Working with Programs Manager to maintain program critical pathways, ensuring activities are being completed according to timelines
  • Support with budgeting, expense claims, invoicing, and tracking of payments as needed.
  • Communicate with partners to provide program updates

Measuring, Evaluation, and Learning

  • Assist the Programs Manager in defining key metrics and measurements to evaluate impact and supporting the use of relevant data to report on program delivery


Events Coordination (as it arises)

  • Supporting in the content design and delivery of short-term events, which could include recruiting, reviewing and assessing applications from potential participants; and
  • Provide support to recruiting and training facilitators for events.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

We are looking for self-driven, energized, impact-focused individuals who:

  • Is committed to our mission of enabling youth to build just and climate-resilient futures
  • Is familiar with anti-oppressive, anti-racist approaches to climate justice 
  • Have experience in one of more of the following areas: municipal governance, green entrepreneurship, arctic policy, international policy, or program evaluation
  • Works well in a team environment and has shared values of care and collaboration
  • Is able to take initiative, remain organized, and be flexible
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English, such as: report writing, communicating formally with partners, and communicating with youth.


  • Ability to communicate in language(s), in addition to English.
  • Have strong data management skills, such as tracking data and aggregating data from multiple programs and sources, or prior experience in impact measurement or evaluation 
  • Have experience working in non-profit, organizing, or community spaces
  • Have facilitation experience 



  • Between 15-30 years old at beginning of contract
  • Access to a personal computer and cell phone
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*
  • Be legally entitled to work according to provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  • Be eligible to travel internationally


*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
