Join Youth Climate Lab (YCL) as a Partnerships and Development Coordinator! Work hand-in-hand with YCL’s diverse staff, partners, and youth across the globe to shake up the status quo of climate inaction. (Don’t let that imposter syndrome stop you!)

• Term: 8 weeks, 30 hours/week
• Compensation: $18/hour

About YCL

YCL is a youth-for-youth lab founded in May 2017 to support and strengthen a generation of leaders in shaking up the status quo of climate inaction. It has since worked with 30+ partners to design, pilot, and scale innovative experiments projects that have reached thousands of young people combating climate change in more than 77 countries.

What You Would Do

The Partnerships and Development Coordinator works with our Partnerships and Development Manager to support the coordination and delivery of YCL’s fee-for-service and donor engagement. In this role you will work with YCL staff and external partners to ensure that workshops are delivered to provide maximum impact for all stakeholders. The Partnerships and Development Coordinator will also be involved in researching, designing and implementing a revamped donor engagement strategy for YCL. 

If you are keen on joining the Youth Climate Lab team, but nervous about being new to the world of partnerships and fee-for-service work, we want to acknowledge the diverse skills that you may already have that you can apply to this work: this includes the work of drawing together unusual connections across the climate space, developing a wide variety of communications materials, facilitating events and customer service. 

Research and Design

• Coordinate feasibility assessment for the donor engagement strategy
• Design and implement donor engagement strategy 
• Coordinate YCL’s Design team to optimize our delivery of workshops, systematize a facilitator directory and/or other services
• Conduct research to identify new clients 

Marketing, Outreach and Delivery

• Work with YCL Communications Specialist to develop branding assets for donor engagement
• Work with the Partnerships and Development Manager to deliver our fee-for-service strategy

• Conduct outreach to prospective clients
• Update and maintain Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems

Partnerships and Development

• Support the Partnerships and Development Manager with ad hoc projects
• Working with Partnerships and Development Manager to ensuring activities are being completed in accordance with timelines

Qualifications 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

We are looking for self-driven, energized, impact-focused individuals who:

• Are committed to our mission of enabling youth to build just and climate-resilient futures
• Is able to take initiative, be flexible, and work well under uncertainty
• Interest in learning how a non-profit organization operates
• Excellent ability to write and speak English, ability to write and speak French is considered an asset
• Enjoys and is proficient at conducting research and synthesizing best practices 
• Proficient in Google Suite (e.g. Google Docs, Sheets, etc) 
• Experience in outreach and business development
• Excellent people skills
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good administrative and organizational skills

Eligibility

• Between 15-30 years old at beginning of contract
• Access to a personal computer and cell phone
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*
• Be legally entitled to work according to provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
• Be eligible to travel internationally

*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
