Out of School Care (OSC) Manager (ECE considered)

BGC of Central Vancouver Island (BGCCVI) is a registered non-profit and charitable organization serving over 1000 children, youth, and families in Central Vancouver Island area through enriching programs in 14 locations. Job Duties (not an exhaustive list)

  • The development of effective staff and child/family relationships that support a safe and inclusive environment for both staff and children, with the capacity to provide ongoing childcare using best practices which comply with childcare regulations.
  • Management of Child Care staff team including performance reviews and training plans for direct reports.
  • Preparation, scheduling and facilitating staff meetings.
  • Identifying, monitoring, and communicating trends, patterns, opportunities, and concerns to the Director of CCEL.
  • Maintain all programs to required licensing accreditation.
  • Provide service delivery of the following evidence-based research: Strengths-Based, Trauma Informed Practice, & Positive Behaviour Support and experiential learning
  • Implement Risk Management protocols for all Out of School Care Programs.
  • Review, monitor, and ensure compliance of monthly and quarterly Health & Safety Schedule including drills, trainings, and Licensing requirements.
  • Support the Director of Child Care and Early Learning with the review of incidents and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.
  • Support program supervisors with the preparation of Behaviour Plans and offering strategies to support those children with additional needs.


The successful candidate must meet the following requirements

  • Undergraduate degree/diploma in Recreation, Education, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Early Childhood Education or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a formal leadership role in a related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in a licensed program environment.
  • Training/experience in Positive Behaviour Supports and Trauma Informed Perspectives.
  • Experience working in a CARF accredited organization is an advantage
  • Class 4 Driver’s License – or willingness to obtain.


Salary: $23.00-$25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

*Licensed ECE eligible for BC ECE-WE.
