Community Engagement Specialist

Our organization has a unique opportunity for a creative, highly skilled team player to join our Development Team. We are looking for someone who has experience, drive, and passion in at least two of the following functions: fund development, event management, communications, volunteer management, and marketing.  


Depending on your areas of expertise and interests, here are some of the things you might do:

Volunteer Management

  • Proactively develop, maintain, and grow volunteer programs and assist with giving programs and initiatives
  • Effectively build, develop, and oversee our volunteer workforce
  • Create opportunities in the community via events and presentations to raise awareness and educate people about healthy relationships, domestic violence and the services WIN House offers
  • Manage, maintain, and facilitate volunteer data and reports

Events Management

  • Engage as a member of the Development Team in the planning, management, execution and evaluation of sponsorships and events
  • Develop event plans including purpose, goals, logistics, tone, program, budget, stakeholders, and sponsors
  • Plan and execute events from start to finish including setting priorities, identifying resource needs, and adjusting scheduling as required

Communication and Marketing

  • Develop and execute a formal communication plan, including strategy and objectives
  • Gather and write meaningful and impactful donor, volunteer and client stories, reports, and testimonials
  • Create content for social media accounts, letters, articles, newsletters, company website, and press releases ensuring content is up-to-date, accurate and follows brand standards and best practices
  • Maintain and update agency library of photos, stories, and testimonials
  • Create WIN House branded materials for events and presentations
  • Plan and execute all public relations and marketing of related to volunteer opportunities, including the annual general meeting and volunteer recognition event

Fund Development

  • Craft persuasive grant applications
  • Produce uniquely tailored communications supporting donor recognition and annual activities
  • Develop and monitor sponsorship plans and agreements
  • Play an integral role in the development of innovative stewardship events and experiences

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Dedicated interest and commitment to the goals and objectives of WIN House and serving those we support
  • A degree, diploma, or certification in related to one or more of the functions listed above
  • Experience or exposure to at least two of the functions listed above
  • High degree of skill in MS office; proficiency in Google Suite, Adobe (Illustrator and photoshop), email marketing software and website management systems preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to lead, motivate and support volunteers
  • A team-player who is agile, can work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, and regularly meets deadlines
  • Great attention to detail, creative, and innovative by nature
