We are seeking Harm Reduction Outreach Workers in Medicine Hat, who will be responsible for meeting the needs of people who use drugs and those at risk or affected by HIV or HCV and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections. Working within a harm reduction and rights-based philosophy, this position assists clients to achieve stabilized and sustained health, improve their quality of life and meet their individualized goals. This position requires passionate individuals who are committed to developing supportive and respectful relationships through non-judgmental and client-centered service delivery. Key activities include in-office and street-level outreach, substance use debris response, assistance with basic needs, distribution of safer sex and safer consumption supplies, advocacy, and referrals.
This is a full-time two-month term position located in the Medicine Hat office, working Monday to Friday. This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs 2022 Program. The successful candidate must meet the program’s eligibility criteria. A flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings and weekends is required.
