TITLE:                            Finance Clerk


POSITION TYPE:         Full Time – Temporary (8 weeks- Canada Summer Job) (Non-Union)


SCHEDULE                   35 Hours per week (flexibility required as needed)


REPORTS TO:              Chief Financial Officer




The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED) is a multi-purpose, multi-program facility that functions as a community centre for the Deaf and as a non-profit charitable provider of services for the Deaf.  The organization exists to provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve.


Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Clerk is responsible to assist with all accounts payable and accounts receivable for BRCCED, Bob Rumball Foundation for the Deaf (BRFD) and Bob Rumball Camp for the Deaf (BRCD). 




  • Work in cooperation with directors, managers, coordinators and finance staff including Accountant
  • Maintain AP files
  • Create receipts for incoming cheques
  • Assist in the preparation of bank deposits
  • Match invoices with approved purchase orders
  • Match cheques with corresponding documents
  • Handle supplier inquires promptly and courteously
  • Assist with account inquires
  • Assist with/execute administrative duties
  • Prepare outgoing mail
  • Assist AP/AR
  • Assist in system/process revisions



  • Currently enrolled in Accounting/Finance or a program in a related field
  • Good computer skills, knowledge of accounting software ( preferably Sage Accpac or MS Great Plains), Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Outlook and Internet
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • The ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Knowledge of GAAP Accounting principles as asset
  • Good time and stress management skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, highly developed organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of ASL and/or Deaf culture and experience in a non-profit environment an asset
  • French language/LSQ an asset


Canada Summer Jobs Requirements

  • Must be within 15 to 30 years of age (as per Canada Summer Jobs requirements)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number
  • Must be able to commit to full 8 weeks at 35 hours per week
