HR Generalist/Recruiter – Remote in Canada

This position reports to the Executive Director, Business Services and will manage the recruitment cycle as well as support the operations of HR through providing administrative support to HR Programs.

The primary responsibility of this position is driving the recruitment process and we are looking for someone with a relentless drive to source and hire the best talent, someone with high recruiting standards with a focus on candidate experience and the passion to be a part of a team who is committed to making a meaningful contribution to creating a better world. This role can be located anywhere in Canada – you will work from your own home office.


Specifically, you will be responsible for:



  • Full cycle recruiting in a fast-paced environment: taking candidates from initial sourcing through to offer stage for multiple roles across various departments.
  • Provide a seamless recruiting process with a prioritization on ensuring each candidate has a positive experience
  • Work closely with hiring managers to identify hiring needs, develop recruitment strategies, and provide support throughout recruitment cycle
  • Post jobs internally and externally with job boards.
  • Coordinate internal recruitment processes including job posting, transfers/promotions
  • Source, screen, and conduct initial interviews with qualified candidates for presentation to hiring managers
  • Schedule and conduct competency-based interviews for applicants and referring candidates for additional interviews with others in organization where required by Management.
  • Conduct reference checks and support new hires with obtaining their Police Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Search
  • In collaboration with HRBP develop offer letters
  • Facilitate on-boarding paperwork/orientation with new hires
  • Attend career fairs for recruiting and company recognition when appropriate.



  • Assist in the facilitation of annual merit cycle process and annual performance management process.
  • Manage Mandatory Training Platform and Assist in coordination of employee mandatory training: following up with employees and managers as needed to ensure required training is completed by established deadlines.
  • Support HRBP with processing all resignations and involuntary terminations including preparing termination paperwork and conducting exit interviews.
  • Support with general reporting, maintain metrics and organizational chart
  • Preparing and maintenance of employment records
  • May be assigned HR projects from time to time such as organizing HR drive for greater efficiency, updating policies and procedures, and supporting other initiatives.
  • Other duties as required

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Minimum three years of recruitment experience
  • Minimum two years of HR Coordinator/Administrator experience
  • Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • CHRP designation is an asset
  • Maintaining current knowledge of Pay Equity, human rights and employment standards guidelines and laws.
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures
  • Bring a passion for connecting with people and building relationships with both candidates and hiring manager
  • Innovative thinker, able to use and develop new sources for recruitment.
  • Able to work in a result focused environment.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required
  • Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills.
  • Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively with different managers, candidate personalities, etc.
  • Good training, coaching, and active listening skills are essential
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with departments, key business partners, and employees.
  • Outstanding interviewing skills.
  • Excellent in all MS Office (focus on Excel)

Working Conditions

  • Works in a home office environment
  • Some work is extremely deadline driven
  • Required to work days and sometimes evenings and weekends, if necessary.
  • Aptitude with desktop computers, and other company applications.
  • Ability to attend and conduct job fairs.
  • Must remain discrete and maintain high levels of confidentiality
  • Must role model values of Scouts Canada including the Child and Youth Safety program.
  • PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) required
  • Mandatory training requirement
