The Community & Social Services Worker will provide direct assistance to the program facilitators within our Steps 2 Success program, WorkForce Challenge Program and Inspiring Minds Program. The role and responsibilities of this position will include:

 

  • Provide general administrative support to our community-based programs
  • Answering phones, emails and other communications
  • Assist in linking at-risk individuals to services and pro-social activities.
  • Assist youth in identifying, navigating and engaging in necessary services, programs and/or resources to help them disengage in gang related behaviours
  • Engaging these individuals in activities to learn about and disrupt violence and/or gang involvement.
  • Supporting the development of individual participant goals and plans.
  • Co-facilitation and moderation of workshops geared to personal development and opportunities for positive change for program participants.
  • Perform coordination functions while acting as an advocate and providing information and referrals to program participants.
  • Liaise with a variety of community resources, referral sources, colleges, skills training centres and specialized services, community agencies and employers in facilitating the achievement of client goals.
  • Developing and maintaining a broad base of diverse partnerships, including community partners and local small businesses where relevant, for brokerage and collaborative purposes.
