Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada is a unique health services organization that serves people who are blind or partially sighted across the country. Our certified specialists provide training that empowers clients to develop or to restore activities of daily living skills, to promote their independence, to enhance safety and mobility. We work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists and other health care professionals, by providing essential care on a referral basis in homes, workplaces and communities across the country.

Summary:
The Orientation and Mobility (O&M) specialist provides functional expertise for individuals with vision loss and their families to maximize skills for optimal independence to travel safely, confidently, and independently in their environment. The Orientation and Mobility specialist works with individuals usually on a one-to-one basis in a home, school, hospital or in the community.
What might that look like:
The Specialist, O&M may help orient a college student who is blind to locate and navigate public transit to safely arrive on campus; instruct a young adult who has low vision in the use of a GPS device; provide sighted guide training to caregivers; and teach a senior who is partially sighted to cross two busy streets to get to the grocery store.
