The Candora Society of Edmonton has an employment opportunity for a Summer Student - Office Administrative and Marketing Assistant. This is a temporary full-time position (35 hours per week) for 16 weeks.  The Summer Student - Office Administrative and Marketing Assistant works to support programming for the entire organization by ensuring that community members feel welcome and are supported or referred to a staff person for support when they call or visit Candora.  In addition, they will perform administrative, operational, marketing, and clerical tasks. 

 

This opportunity is being funded through the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs program.

Key Responsibilities

 

The Office Administrative and Marketing Assistant will participate as a member of the program team and will attend meetings as necessary. Duties will include tasks related to the following areas:  reception, admin support, communication (internal and external), office management and first line referral support for participants and community members.

 

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

Reception

  • Greet people and assist as needed (referrals, basic triage to help determine urgent requests/matters, knowledge of basic resources and providing information – as appropriate)
  • Answer phone (switchboard), record and forward messages as needed
  • Provide phone support in terms of referral information – as appropriate
  • Dealing with emails, photocopying, mail, faxing requests

 

Admin Support

  • Data entry and filing
  • Candora informational material update and restocking promotional materials
  • Create and maintain sign-up/waitlists
  • Assist with fundraisers, community connecting events, etc.

 

Office Management

  • Track inventory & order supplies
  • Maintain storage room

Communication

  • Update Candora monthly calendar and distribution
  • Update bulletin board and resource information
  • CRM Management

 

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

  • Marketing knowledge or experience is considered an asset
  • Prior experience in using Microsoft Office computer software programs and other office equipment
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Self-directed, and an ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of the Candora Society.
  • Strong orientation to community oriented, relationship-based work including an awareness of and sensitivity to issues of participants/community members
  • Clear understanding of professional boundaries and ethics
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Police Security Check and Child Welfare Check required
  • Must be between 15 – 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

 

Employment type: Temporary FTE position will end after 16-week term

Hours of work: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (35 hours per week)

Expected Start Date: May 24, 2022

Wages: $15.00/hour

REPORTS TO:   Manager, Community Partnerships and Initiatives
