Communications & Campaign Coordinator 

Accountable to: Executive Director 

Primary Responsibility: Coordinate SCIC Communications Strategy & Campaigns 

Hours of work: 80% FTE (28 hours/week) until March 31, 2023

Bargaining Unit: CUPE Local 3012 

Primary Location: SCIC Office, Regina Saskatchewan 

Remuneration: Starting at $28.63/hour (As per Schedule “A”) 

We seek a confident and ambitious Communications & Campaign Coordinator, who plays a key role in creating content both written and digital which tells important stories to our stakeholders across our council to foster a sense of belonging, shared values, strategy, purpose, and to implement change. You will be the first port of call for colleagues’ requests to external communications, providing advice, guidance, and support on how to best communicate and engage with our diverse stakeholders. You will build out key internal communications to support SCIC. 

This job description outlines the general areas of responsibility and ongoing tasks associated with this position. Specific tasks and priorities may be assigned or modified by management through program and work planning. 

What does success look like?

  • Design and continually adapt an overarching communications strategy with respect to SCIC’s strategic plan, mandate, and program obligations; 
  • Coordinate targeted communications content and messaging for a wide range of identified stakeholders and strategic audiences; 
  • Coordinate SCIC print and web-based publications and promotional materials; 
  • Conduct SCIC interviews to gather stories of our stakeholders;
  • Ensure brand coherence and relevance across all public-facing communications; 
  • Ensure SCIC’s development principles, values, and crosscutting themes are integrated into all campaigns and communications initiatives; 
  • Coordinate the collection, monitoring, and maintaining of records and produce appropriate reflective reports on all communications activities, including web-based analytics, qualitative and quantitative data; 
  • Write press releases, manage targeted ad campaigns, foster media relationships, actively promote SCIC within the broader community; 
  • Stay apprised of traditional and social media communication platforms and trends and maintain SCIC’s presence and relevance.
  • Participate in staff meetings and program planning as required; 
  • Create key internal communications material;
  • Complete regular work plans and reports as required; and
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director. 

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • An undergraduate university degree, preferably in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field;
  • Experience or demonstrated understanding of international cooperation, global solidarity, anti-oppression, gender equality and/or global citizenship public engagement initiatives; 
  • Experience with campaign messaging, and/or communications coordination; 
  • Experience with media outreach and public speaking is considered an asset;
  • Experience with graphic and visual design; 
  • Experience with photography or video would also be considered an asset;
  • Excellent writing targeted messaging, and editing skills; 
  • Strong planning, time-management, and organizational skills; 
  • Fluency in both English and French is considered an asset; 
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Layout/Design Software, and social media and website platforms, including Nation Builder;
  • Ability to be flexible and to work in relatively unstructured situations; 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with numerous deadlines; and
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of a small team.
