Position Summary
The Senior Support Worker plays an important role in the delivery of in-home support services to the older adults of Calgary. To help older adults maintain their independence in their home, the Senior Support Program provides assistance with routine housekeeping.  The Senior Support Worker acts as the “eyes and ears” for many clients and when necessary, communicates the change in needs of the client to their Supervisor. With the assistance of a Senior Support Worker, many older adults can maintain their independence and “age in place” longer.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide assistance as required in the day to day cleaning of homes, including dusting, damp mopping floors, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens and taking out garbage.

Qualifications & Experience

• Personal qualifications including dependability, reliability and a passion for working with older adults; maturity, calmness, understanding, patience, and a sense of humour;
• A strong ability to maintain the confidence and privacy of others;
• A strong ability to work alone in a self-managed setting;
• Ability to handle a variety of matters requiring discretion, good judgment and sensitivity with a diverse group of clients;
• A positive attitude with a commitment to providing quality service;
• Physical ability to perform housecleaning chores;
• A personal cellphone for work usage, with compensation;
• A reliable vehicle to travel between client homes.

Training and Benefits
As a Senior Support Worker, you will:

• Receive orientation and training in working in clients homes;
• Opportunities to attend staff meetings and workshops;
• Vacation Pay as per Employment Standards;
• Reimbursement for mileage travelled between client homes;
• Receive a Cell Phone Allowance of $20 per month;
• Receive regular Supervision in the community.

Location

Currently, we are specifically recruiting for Senior Support Workers to provide services to seniors in the communities of Citadel, the Hamptons, Rocky Ridge and other areas in the NW as well as in Ramsey and Inglewood in the SE.

Covid-19 safety training and any required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to ensure the safety of staff and clients.

The safety of carya employees and clients is our top priority.  All employees will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as a condition of employment. Proof of ineligibility will be required.

Hourly Flexible Position
$17 per hour
