ABOUT FAMILY SERVICES OF GREATER VANCOUVER (FSGV)

We are a community-based, not-for profit organization with approximately 80 social services programs and 420 employees across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. We provide counselling and other essential services to the most vulnerable people in our communities. For over 90 years, we’ve inspired and supported those who need help reaching their full potential. We work to ensure children are nurtured, youth find optimism, adults feel empowered, and parents make choices that build strong families.

Here’s what we can do together:

The Healthy Connections Group Counsellor provides an art therapy group for pregnant and/or newly parenting women who have experienced childhood trauma, including abuse, loss and neglect.

What you bring:

• you have completed an M.S.W. or M.A./M.Ed (Psychology) or equivalent, and are registered as an RCC or RSW
• minimum of 2 years supervised relevant group counselling experience with a preference for group art therapy skills
• a trauma-informed, feminist, anti-oppressive, intersectional lens to the work
• strong group counselling and art therapy skills
• solid understanding of the physical, emotional and relationship changes that are concurrent with pregnancy, birth and the post-natal experience 
• strong foundation in trauma counselling and solid understanding of the neurobiological impacts of trauma, attachment and family systems 
• ability to provide group counselling both in-person and/or online
• Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required

Your key contributions:

• lead weekly group therapy sessions for pre and post-natal women in modules of 6 - 10 weeks, over a one-year period (total of 24 groups per year) 
• assess the individual needs of participants in preparation for the group 
• assist in the recruitment and coordination of volunteers and staff for child­-minding for the group
• committed to working as part of a team

Work Hours: 7 hours per group – 24 groups per year

Location: 1638 E. Broadway, Vancouver, BC with the possibility of working remotely

Salary: $33.50 per hour GS12B Step 1
