Position Description

Accountable for the management, design, development and production of an online digital training platform as part of the Uplift Digital Learning program. The position will manage the creation of an online learning website to host learning modules and will lead the development of digital content on a range of topics related to STEM and digital skills development.

  • Oversees and manages the design of all soft-skills, technical skills, new hire orientation, leadership, compliance and recurrent training needs by creating instructionally sound, effective, and engaging training programs;
  • Uses instructional design principles to create e-learning programs, focusing on quality, collaboration, learner motivation and engagement;
  • Leads, manages and monitors the effective day to day operation of the Digital Smarts team;
  • Directly manages 2 or more employees and other staff indirectly, conducts performance evaluations, recruiting, training and mentoring;
  • Coaches and guides staff in participant recruiting, training and mentoring;
  • Works collaboratively with subject matter experts and business leads to ensure training is effective and bespoke;
  • Utilizes Adobe Suite software to create digital content on topics related to STEM and digital skills development;
  • Applies a range of technical, creative and learning development skills to develop interactive learning opportunities using a variety of media;
  • Maintains relevant and up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging online/distance learning technologies;
  • Updates courses, curriculum, and training modules as needed based on system enhancements, operational changes, and regulatory/policy changes;
  • Ensures all training materials reflect the look and feel of the company's brand;
  • Effectively leads a team of Digital Content Developers and Facilitators;
  • Collaborates with Senior Manager in strategic planning, setting annual operating plans and achieving organizational objectives;
  • Ensures program outcomes are achieved according to set targets and quality standards; monitors programs and projects to mitigate risk; ensures compliance with YWCA policies and procedures, escalates to Senior Manager as required;
  • Builds graphics, edits short-form video, and lays in select music;
  • Records voice overs for training modules and videos;
  • Creates webpage layouts as necessary (SharePoint and Learning Management System);
  • Understands emerging trends, leading practices, industry professional standards;
  • Works with limited pieces of client confidential data and ensures that such data is stored in accordance with YWCA policies;
  • Maintains accurate records/statistics and evaluation information related to the activities undertaken/outcomes achieved; reporting results to Manager;
  • Monitors project budgets and expenditures, ensures projects are on-track and within budget;
  • Demonstrates and models strong leadership behaviour as a member of the YWCA leadership team;
  • Supports YWCA Hamilton’s mission, vision and values;
  • Fosters a safe and health work environment; ensures employees comply with health and safety standards that meet or exceed legislated requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required.


  • Works 37.5 hours work week;
  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.


  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in e-learning, program management, technical skills development or similar; with a minimum of 1-year of management experience;
  • Completion of 2-year college degree in instructional design, web design, marketing, communications, business, or equivalent;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in utilizing web design tools with proficient knowledge of ecommerce, SEO, social media, marketing and communications;
  • In-depth knowledge of social media content development and web management systems Wordpress, Squarespace, JAVA and CSS and HTML;
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge animation, script writing and graphic design skills;
  • Experience utilizing Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of instructional design principles;
  • Experience with standard Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, PPT) as well as collaboration tools (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams);
  • Excellent time management and project management skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must be comfortable working in fast paced environment and prepared to pivot as business needs evolve;
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills including facilitation;
  • Must have an excellent coaching, solution focused mindset with superior client service skills;
  • Must be able to navigate online video conferencing software to implement online training;
  • Highly developed ability to lead teams and work in a team;
  • Must be able to work from a feminist, anti-racist/anti-oppressive perspective and apply an intersectional, gender lens to entrepreneurship;
  • Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost;
  • Bilingual English/French is an asset.
