JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Concurrent Disorders Clinicians employ a strengths-based approach to supporting individuals with addictions and mental health issues.  You are part of a collaborative team that supports clients by developing, implementing and monitoring individualized support plans.  You conduct assessments, make referrals, provide clinical therapeutic interventions, and collaborate with partners to support client recovery.  You make a difference!   

How?

By using psychotherapeutic interventions, as a CD Clinician you would:

  • Develop and support a strengths-based support plan with clients after administering a standardized, comprehensive assessment tool
  • Engage in counselling using cognitive behavioural principles and interventions, along with other evidence-informed modalities
  • Teach skills such as problem-solving, anger management, self-control and coping strategies
  • Support access to service by engaging in outreach when required
  • Collaborate with partners, both formally and informally, to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting client needs

Concurrent Disorders Clinicians may have the opportunity to take on different assignments within the department which could include: leading therapeutic programming within our Withdrawal Management Treatment Services, providing community-based outpatient treatment focused on gambling or youth, or providing services on site at the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (BHN RAAM) clinic or CMHA Safe Beds program.

Hours of work: Hours of work: 37.5-hour work week, primarily days Monday to Friday with some evening hours

Training: Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development

Annual salary: starting at $45,279 plus shift premiums and benefits

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have a college diploma in the Human/Social Services field, with a University Degree in a related Social Sciences preferred
  • Have current registration with a professional governing body such as CRPO or OCSWSSW
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ combined education/experience in substance use, concurrent disorders and/or mental health clinical settings
  • Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Be able to manage frequent exposure to vicarious traumatic stress
  • Proof of vaccination against COVID-19
