Community Roots Resource Centre (CRRC), a family resource centre located in North East Winnipeg, is
looking for an energetic, creative and committed individual for the position of EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. This
is a full-time 3 year term position, with a possibility of extension pending future financial support. CRRC
serves a diverse community of newcomer and Indigenous families with various food, health and wellness
programs that enhance the lives of community members by meeting the basic, emotional and social needs
of the community.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR will be responsible for all aspects of the
centre’s programs from design to implementation to assessment. In order to successfully deliver the
programs, the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR will be expected to build strong relationship with the community and
create and foster a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for all program participants and staff
members. The EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR is expected to be a strong and effective advocate for the resource
centre in dealing with funding institutions and other stakeholders. Creativity, resourcefulness and
determination in program design and delivery would be expected.
Key Responsibilities and Activities:
- responsible for the delivery and assessment of current programs including a community
garden, a community kitchen, a community food bank
- responsible for the identification of community needs and the development of program
proposals to meet those needs
- establish and maintain a good working relationship with the Board of Directors, other staff
members and program facilitators
- supervise, support, direct and evaluate the work of program facilitators, resource centre staff
and volunteers
- responsible for working with the Board to identify new sources of funding and preparing
funding applications
- responsible for the preparation of all reports to funding agencies and to the Board of Directors
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- 3 – 5 years related experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity preferably in a
charitable organization.
- A university or community college degree or diploma in a related field; training and experience
in offering crisis support an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to handle difficult conversations with
diplomacy and tact.
- Comfortable learning new technologies. Experience with social media and website
management, Microsoft Office Suite and common office technology considered an asset.
- Knowledge of community development; demonstrated ability to work in a community setting
coupled with Indigenous and Newcomer community awareness and sensitivity.
- Self-management skills: time management, planning, prioritizing and organizing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team to plan, organize and carry out tasks
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- A current Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

this. The successful incumbent receives 3 weeks of vacation, December 25th to January 1st off, and Friday
afternoons off in July and August. This position is a hybrid remote/in-office role with flexible hours.
