Position Summary

The Youth Employment Program Coordinator aids youth between the ages 15 – 30 to accessing employment through skills training, resume building, job search, and work experience outlined in the program workplan.  This position is also responsible for the operations and supervision of staff from July – August 31 at Golf World, a Sagitawa operated initiative.  This position works as a team player who contributes to a safe, respectful, and productive work environment for youth, their colleagues, and the community.

Qualifications

The successful candidate shall possess the following qualifications:

• Completion or working towards education in Social, Human Services or related field is considered an asset
• 2+ years progressive experience in the social or human services field by leading projects, programming, outreach and/or supervisory responsibilities
• 2+ years working with youth aged 15-30, ideally with those facing barriers to employment
• A combination of related education and experience may be considered
• Knowledge and respect for Indigenous Cultures
• Knowledge of local youth services and community resources
• Knowledge of developments regarding trauma informed care, mental health, addictions, social housing, and vulnerable populations is considered an asset
• Experience with marketing and building community relationships is an asset
• Proficient with using Microsoft Office (word, excel) and social media
• Current First Aid and CPR Level “C” and Safe Food Handling Course
• Completion of Suicide Prevention Certificate or Trauma Informed training or education is considered an asset
• Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record and Child and Family Services Intervention Record Check
• Must have access to transportation to get to and from work
• Provide proof of vaccination to support the staff and vulnerable community Sagitawa serves

This full-time position is grant funded and starts immediately until March 31, 2023, with potential for extension.  The hours of work are normally 1:00pm – 9:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
