Request for proposals : accounting services

Logifem is looking for an accounting firm or accountant who can offer accounting services including the production of monthly and quarterly reports, project tracking, quality control and availability to respond to questions related to the organisation’s accounting.

Context

Logifem is a registered charitable organization founded in 1988 in Montreal that offers accommodation and support to women with and without children who are experiencing homelessness for various reasons. Logifem’s mission is to provide support and accommodation to vulnerable women and children where they can feel at home to heal and rebuild their lives.

Logifem’s annual operating budget is around 1,500,000 $. The sources of revenues are the rents paid by residents in the two shelters, grants, donations from individuals, corporations and foundations as well as income from fundraising events.

Logifem employs a bookkeeper/payroll technician, who collects the rents, pays the bills, enters the data into the accounting system (SAGE) and prepares and submits the bi-weekly pay.

Since 2020, Logifem has received several grants for specific projects, requiring adjustments in the organization’s accounting practices.

Services required

We estimate a total of 8 to 12 hours per month:

• Production of monthly reports
  • Revision of data entered into SAGE
  • Income statements with comparison to the previous year
  • Budget projections
  • Tracking of projects
• Quarterly budget review with recommendations for adjustments
• Preparation of the annual budget (in collaboration with the Executive Director)
• Availability to respond to questions from the bookkeeper and/or the Executive Director

Profile sought

• Chartered accountant
• Expertise in charitable organizations
• Knowledge of government programmes and funding streams (ex. PSOC, SHQ)
