Term: Fulltime, Temporary Contract (As soon as possible - March 2023) 





Serve refugees and immigrants facing complex life situations that impede integration. Newcomers requiring complex case management are vulnerable due to extreme poverty, social isolation, poor mental health and/or domestic instability 


This position facilitates the successful settlement and integration of refugees and immigrants through comprehensive needs assessment, resource provision, and supportive referrals. Navigates the municipal, provincial and federal support systems with ease and can connects customers with the resources they qualify for.

  • Direct intake interviews and comprehensive settlement needs assessments. 
  • Develop tailored settlement plans based on immediate priority and identified needs and barriers. Define goals and the necessary steps for success in collaboration with the family/individual.  
  • Determine intervention based on a human-centred design approach.  
  • Act as newcomer advocate with Capital Region Housing, Income Support, and Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Services and other agencies and providers. Engage with diverse communities, agencies, and organizations to connect families and individuals to resources and supports.  
  • Make referrals to support organizations, programs, or services, internally and externally meeting people where they are including cultural health brokers and interpreters.  
  • Maintain current and accurate data, records and reports Document and data entry and data and case notes into agency database. Ensure all necessary paperwork and documentation are placed on the client file.  
  • Collaborate with EMCN departments and community partners to connect with individuals and families that could benefit from this program.  




  • A unique combination of relevant education and experience such as: 
  • Post-secondary education, and; 
  • Two (2) years experience as a Social Worker, or; 
  • Four (4) years experience working in Community Services or the Settlement field.  
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Social Worker with the ACSW. 
  • Current Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector.  
  • Excellent knowledge of Edmonton, Alberta, and Canadian social support systems. .  
  • Functional understanding of the complexities of immigrant settlement issues including housing, health, employment, and family dynamics.  
  • Case management experience. 
  • Fluency in multiple languages is a definite asset!

  • Temporary, full-time employment opportunity with an annual salary of $57,036.
