Job Title: Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator

Job Duties:
- Lead/Co-Lead Joint Health & Safety Committee
- Responsible for assisting and supporting management in resolving day-to-day occupational health and safety issues
- Work with HR/Managers to create a system for organizing/managing safety inspections for all worksites
- Implement and oversee safety programs
- Identification of hazardous conditions and practices
- Ensuring quality of accident investigations and the completion of documentation.
- Work closely with management to ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to as required by legislation
- Coordinate health & safety celebrations and events
- Coordinate required OH&S training for both current employees and new recruits, both on & off site
- Organize, develop, or source OH&S training programs to meet specific training needs (as required)
- Organize OH&S training supplies/acquire as needed
Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized two-year diploma program in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working towards Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation (or eligible to apply) an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of BC’s Occupational Health and Safety legislation combined with training in hazard recognition, assessment, and control
- Occupational First Aid Level II or III
- Mental Health First Aid Training (asset)
- Naloxone Training (asset)
- Proficient with various information technology systems
- Current Class 5 Driver’s License
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Well-demonstrated written, oral and high-level communication skills
- Proficient in computer skills, including ability to use MS Office
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Highly organized, and able to manage multiple schedules & events
- Excellent trouble shooting & problem solving skills
- Able to build & maintain relationships with both internal & external Manager’s and Contractors
Hours of Work: Hours may vary depending on Program needs but typically Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
