Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, Vancouver, this regular full-time position manages our Broadway Youth Resource Centre (BYRC). This experienced social services professional has a strong ability to provide vision and leadership for staff and services for BYRC, a one-stop youth centre that provides a wide range of social, health, education, employment, life skills services and food programs to youth. It is a multi-service and multi-agency hub with a range of services for youth, all under one roof.

The manager will lead our integrated youth services for at-risk youth ages 15-24 in Vancouver. As a member of the PCRS leadership team, the manager will foster and influence the agency's relationships with funders and maintain broad external contacts. They will provide supervision and support to staff in youth programming operations, integrative case management, child welfare legislation, alternative education programs and evaluation.

This position requires experience and skills in the following areas: community and youth development; networking with government and community services; grant/RFP writing; personnel management; financial management, facility operations including a commercial kitchen, supervision, and consultation to youth care staff in a variety of positions; ability to work with at-risk, marginalized youth, their parents and professionals, advisory groups and diverse populations.

The youth who participate in PCRS programs come from a wide variety of backgrounds, orientations, and ethnicities. PCRS believes that our staff should reflect this variety and can be authentically sensitive to unique needs. We are especially seeking applicants from under-represented groups such as indigenous, people of colour, multilingual, people with lived experience, trans and gender diverse

Academic and Job Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, combined with at least five (5) years’ experience in a management position responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating operational programming related to youth services. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered

Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector
  • Current Standard First Aid
  • Class 5 Driver's License with Business Use
  • Use of own vehicle required—paid
  • Driver's Abstract

Desired Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in youth center program management, staff leadership and supervision, fiscal management, and budgeting.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth ages 15-24 and understanding their unique needs.
  • Experience creating and working within a trauma-informed, culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and youth.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation related to youth in BC.
  • Ability to lead staff team to achieve outcomes for youth and funders
  • Effective team building and mentoring skills
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills are essential
  • Excellent time management skills: ability to balance multiple, often conflicting priorities
