Position Type:

  • Part-time 20 hrs/wk; Friday afternoon and Saturday mornings required; permanent
  • Hybrid flexibility available (in-person for programming required) 
  • Salary: commensurate upon experience ($20-22/hour) 
  • Start date: July 11th, 2022

Reports to: Community Engagement Coordinator

Job Summary:

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about food security, nutrition, and working with folks experiencing poverty. The Food Security Coordinator (FSC) will oversee Mission Possible’s two food programs:  Power Breakfast and the Community Pantry Program. Power Breakfast is an essential food service and offers much needed support for over 200 residents in the DTES. It is also a point of outreach for Mission Possible’s Employment Readiness Program.  As the program lead, the FSC will be responsible for the running of this program. The FSC will also oversee the Community Pantry Program, which provides accessible food to participants in Mission Possible’s Employment Readiness Program. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate and oversee the Power Breakfast Program and the Community Pantry Program
  • Train and supervise Power Breakfast volunteers, the Lead Volunteer, and the Kitchen Assistant
  • Work collaboratively with Volunteer Lead and Kitchen Assistant to ensure meals are prepared and served to guests in a dignified manner
    • Oversee the cleanup of meals and sanitizing of dishes/equipment and COVID-19 safety practices 
  • Promote Mission Possible’s Employment Readiness Program 
    • Order and pick up program supplies and food donations on a weekly basis for both programs 
    • Communicate in a timely manner with volunteers, program sponsors, and donors 
    • Manage volunteer and sponsor scheduling for Power Breakfast  
  • Ensure a safe and positive environment is maintained at all times for volunteers, breakfast guests, and staff 



  • Class 5 Driver’s License 
  • FoodSafe Level 1, Naloxone training, de-escalation training, and First Aid Level C+ certification are not required but are considered assets.
