CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: ESL Instructor

The Indo- Canadian Women’s Association (ICWA) is seeking a trained and experienced ESL practitioner to teach English Conversational Classes to seniors, immigrants, and newcomers. The program will operate three days a week (3.5 hours/ session). This is a part-time fixed-term maternity leave position from August 2022 to June 2023. Applicants must be able to:

• Develop an interactive program and curriculum

• Develop and prepare instructional objectives and lesson plans that are most suited to the curriculum and student needs

• Instruct sequential progression of every week's conversation in English on a variety of themes
• Engage volunteers in the class

• Monitor and record student progress regularly

• Have a passion for teaching and communicating with non-native English speakers
• Be flexible and adaptable.

Required Skills:

• University Degree in Education and relevant work experience
• Experience working with adult ESL learners and seniors in Canada or abroad
• Demonstrated capability in curriculum development
• Teach a beginner level of Basic English
• Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Self-starter, able to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Commitment to working as a member of a team
• Strong English communication skills with proficiency in other languages e.g Russian, Ukrainian, Hindi, and Punjabi an asset.
