The Richmond Food Bank is looking for a dynamic, outgoing, caring and compassionate individual to join our team as part-time Distribution Coordinator.

About the Organization:

The Richmond Food Bank Society supports food security and nourishment needed to sustain health and well-being. Each week our volunteers offer an array of fresh produce and other grocery items five days per week to around 1400 individuals. We also support a School Meal program to address hunger among students, Home Delivery program, and Information services to connect people in need with community resources.

The Richmond Food Bank is also a sharing hub for food and supplies to community meals, shelters, and other social service agencies that serve low-income and marginalized people in our city.

Job Overview:

Position overview
Reporting to the General Manager, the Distribution Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating remote depot operations and donation pick ups from grocery stores and businesses on weekends and holidays. In the warehouse, the Distribution Coordinator will be receiving and processing donations, which involves forklift operation and using manual and electric pallet-jacks. A solid understanding of inventory management and general warehouse operations will be a strong asset in this role. This role also requires hands on volunteer support and task supervision in preparing for and during distributions.

Key responsibilities

• Drive van to remote depot locations
• Provides assistance to clients and supervise volunteers
• Take inventory at Depot
• Receive, weigh, record, unload and put away incoming products into inventory;
• Inspect inbound food donations for quality, quantity, defects or damages;
• Help manage outbound waste stream when needed;
• Loading and unloading of vehicles
• Complete required pre-shift inspections on all industrial equipment;
• Put away all stock, make sure floor is clear of pallets and obstacles at all time;
• Provide coverage for warehouse and/or distribution staff as needed.

Qualifications and experience

• Valid Forklift Operator Training certification
• Class 5 License with clean driving record
• 2+ years of experience driving 3 ton vehicle or comparable
• Experience using forklifts and electric pallet-jacks in warehouse facility

• Knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office Suite and databases

• A recent Food Safe Level 1 is an asset.

Physical requirements

• The ability to walk and stand for extended periods;
• Bending and lifting boxes up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Exposure to ambient temperatures and noisy conditions.

Schedule and Hours

Starting wage per hour is $20/hr and work hours are 8:00am-12pm Saturdays and Sundays and 2pm-6pm Monday through Wednesday. Group insurance benefits when eligible with the possibility of full time work for the right candidate.
