Wood's Homes is a non-profit children's mental health center based in Calgary and we create and provide quality mental health services that promote and restore the well-being of children and families who struggle with problems big and small. We are currently seeking contracted House Parent(s) to work within the Wood’s Homes continuum of care supporting youth and families in our Collingwood Program.

Our House Parented Programs include our Collingwood & Wheatland Programs. These operate on a house-parented, group-care model for young people who have experienced trauma and may need support with mental health, social and emotional wellness. The Programs provide services for youth with a therapeutic approach and a clinical lens within a family-like setting - there is a House Parent who resides in the home full time with the youth and is supported daily by staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Move into the home and provide consistent and nurturing parental expectations for the youth in our care.
  • Morning routines before school, bedtime routines, prepare family meals, etc.
  • Be a part of the team supporting the youth by attending meetings geared towards planning for successful transitioning.
  • Embrace the lifestyle of parenting our youth, along with “extended family” in the form of the staff team.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate(s) will have an understanding of working with children and youth. who have experienced trauma.
  • Willingness to provide live-in care in our home.
  • Previous parenting experience is an asset, however personal suitability is important.
  • Quality training and extensive supports are provided to promote the success of youth, their placement in the home and family reunification.
  • Full class 5 license and transportation.
