The Francis Winspear Centre for Music is seeking a dynamic individual to become our next Patron and Stewardship Officer. We are looking for an employee that is excited to be part of our music-centered, community-driven organization for this permanent full-time position.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director or VP of Philanthropy, this senior position as Patron and Stewardship Officer would be responsible for a multi-faceted role in developing and executing FWCM | ESO stewardship strategies; generating financial support to advance the mission of our organization. They will be the key contributor, leading the stewardship journey of building transformational relationships with our patrons, connecting with our higher value donors; ensuring the patron giving and affinity to our organization continue to grow.

This is a full time position working at home and at the Winspear Centre and requires the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to attend regular events at The Winspear and become immersed in our musical culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Embody the FWCM | ESO core values, vision, and mission
  • Develop and implement the stewardship fundraising strategy, focusing on leadership donors, and drawing patrons into higher levels of investment (leadership giving and legacy giving.)
  • Communicate with our patrons enhancing their patron journey and experiences, ensuring they have an elevated connection to the FWCM | ESO
  • Prospecting for new high-level investments from the existing donor base and the public at large. (Ex. Gifts-in-kind donors, donations, subscriptions, through annual appeals, stewardship events, community involvement, and coordinating regular giving arrangements.)
  • Manage a portfolio of donors through the stages of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Participate in planning and execution of stewardship and fundraising activities for the Winspear Project Capital Campaign, focusing on conversion to annual giving and retention of new leadership patrons
  • Markets our vision, focus, and contribution of the FWCM | ESO to the public to develop their appreciation and understanding of our relationship and role within the community
  • Establish metrics and evaluate successful fundraising efforts with the ability to report status
  • Support the Philanthropy team and adhere to the direction of the Director or VP of Philanthropy, and the President and CEO of the FWCM | ESO
  • Manage all documentation and data, including administration of donor benefits, that is relevant to the strategy


  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in fundraising, business development, or marketing
  • College or University diploma/degree. Preference will be given to candidates with education in Business, Communications, Public Relations, or Non-for-Profit Management
  • Proficient with computerized information systems and their applications, including OPAS software (Tessitura an asset), Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Office
  • Experience with prospect research, major gift solicitation, or preparing grant applications an asset
  • Must be able to reliably commute and work out of The Francis Winspear Centre for Music (FWCM) the acoustic concert hall and multi-use facility located in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, be highly organized and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, building authentic supportive relationships, and possess extraordinary communication with all staff, volunteers, families, donors, and the public in a professional, confidential, timely, and tactful manner
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, exercise good judgment, and take initiative, as well as work as part of a team
